Probationary Firefighter Dies in the Line-of-Duty

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro today announced the death of Probationary Firefighter Vincent Malveaux.

Probationary Firefighter Malveaux, 31, from Brooklyn, reported to have suffered a medical episode during training on Thursday, December 2 2021,at the FDNY Training Academy on Randall’s Island, New York, according to FDNY.

He was transported to Harlem Hospital and passed away on Friday, December 3rd.



Malveaux is the 1,154th member of the FDNY to die in the line-of-duty, said a press release. He is survived by his parents, Loyd and Vincent. The last member of the Department to die in the line of duty was Lieutenant Brian J. Sullivan of Squad Company 41 in the Bronx, who died on August 10, 2019.
