BREAKING: State Trooper Hit by Car on RFK Bridge, Shots Fired

November 28, 2021 On Saturday afternoon, just before 1 p.m., a New York State Police Trooper was injured after being struck by a vehicle following a shooting where at least one shot was fired by state police on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.

According to state police officials, the state trooper was assisting the MTA Bridges and Tunnels Police with a traffic stop just before the shooting occurred.

During the traffic stop, the trooper was struck when the suspects vehicle suddenly attempted to evade officers, also striking another uninvolved motorists vehicle.

Suspect’s vehicle fled from the bridge and was found in Manhattan at 138th and Powell. Two people were arrested near the scene, it is not yet confirmed wether the arrests are related.

The trooper was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with a minor leg injury sustained during the incident and later released.

One lane of the bridge was closed as part of the investigation.

The New York State Police, NYPD, Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority, were the responding agencies, the investigation into the officer involved shooting is ongoing.
