Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder after Two Police Officers were Shot in the Bronx

On November 24 2021 Bronx, New York – Reports of two officers shot at E187th Street and Hoffman Street.

Two officers responded to a 911 call about a suspect with a gun on Beaumont Avenue in the Bronx, right around 8 p.m. On Wednesday evening.

Police Commissioner said during a press conference that the female officer was shot twice and returned fire, hitting the shooter, the male officer was also shot after strugle with the suspect over the weapon, both are expected to survive their injuries.

The suspect was also shot and taken to the hospital, underwent surgery and is also to recover, police said.

Today, November 27, Police charged a suspect Charlie Vasquez, 23-year-old from Brooklyn, with two counts each of attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a loaded weapon, reckless endangerment and menacing.

Earlier in the evening on November 24 2021, around 6:30 p.m., near Farragut Road in the Canarsie, Brooklyn, an officer was hit by a car.

A police officer was struck after a stolen vehicle was stopped around 630pm on Farragut and E81st Street, according to police.
The officer was transported to Kings County Hospital and is expected to survive. The officer has a broken leg and lacerations to the face.
