Free Britney protesters gathered in Washington Square Park earlier today, exploded into cheers after the announcement ending her conservatorship was made.
Following a nearly 14 year long conservatorship, Los Angeles Judge Brenda Penny terminated the legal arrangement today. Britney Spears is now free.
Britney’s father, James P. Spears, established the conservatorship at the peak of her career in early 2008. This gave him full control of all Britney’s finances and life choices.
The conservatorship came after a series of alleged public mental health incidents in 2008.
However, convinced that she was put in a mental hospital against her will, Britney’s fans came together to demand that the court #FreeBritney
