65-Year-Old Man Shot And Killed By Police After Traffic Stop on Belt parkway

November 11 2021 Brooklyn, New York – a reportedly armed man was shot and killed by Police this afternoon.

Rodney Harrison chief of department held a press conference, according to preliminary NYPD information: Shortly after 4pm, an officer stopped a Jeep Cherokee on Belt Parkway. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped away. The officer pursued the car and positioned her unmarked vehicle in front of the suspects vehicle.
The suspect then rear-ended the officers vehicle, then continued driving


According to Chief, the officer then requested assistance and a highway unit assisted and pulled the vehicle over.
The driver, a 65yo man then got out of the car and walked toward the officers with a gun. The officers commanded the suspect to drop the weapon.

The officers say they then fired multiple rounds at the suspect striking him several times.

EMS transported the suspect to a local hospital where he was deceased. The officers were also transported to another local hospital.

The suspects firearm was recovered at the scene, according to police.


The investigation remains active.
