Climate Protesters Shut Down Traffic for 3 Hours, Confronted by Angry Drivers

October 25 2021 – MANHATTAN, NY: Extinction Rebellion and Sunrise Movement disrupted this morning’s rush hour traffic on FDR Drive.

They vowed to cause further disruption until President Biden takes executive action to fulfill his climate pledge to cut U.S. emissions in half by 2030. The protest caused serious traffic delays during rush hour on a Monday morning. The streets were blocked for at least 2. 5 hours and over a dozen people were arrested.

Second group simultaneously blocked traffic on the West Side Highway, resulting in multiple arrests and hours of non moving traffic.
