Reversing Car Strikes and a Kills a Pedestrian in Manhattan

On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at approximately 0809am, police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at West 66 Street and Amsterdam Avenue, in Manhattan.

Police found a 73-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma about the head and body.

EMS responded and transported the female to Mount Sinai West where she was later pronounced dead.

  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 51-year-old male, operator of a 2007 Hyundai SUV, was parked on the south side of West 66 Street and reversed his vehicle, striking the pedestrian, police says.

  The vehicle remained on scene and the incident is being investigated by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad, according to officials.
