“Mysterious Power Outage” leaves subway riders Stranded, Some Self-Evacuate Out of Tunnels

Subway riders on several trains were stranded in Subway tunnels in NYC after electricity outage late Sunday night (August 29 2021), some reported as “Mysterious Incident”, while others possibly related to a manhole fire in Long Island City.

Fire Department reported 300 people evacuated, three trains stalled due to power outage.


Some passengers were forced to walk through train tracks in the subway tunnels after the power outage.

Service on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and L lines was impacted around 9:30 p.m. And restored around 11:50 p.m..
