July 28th 2021 Brooklyn NY- This Early Afternoon, organizers of “The Gym” a Bushwick neighborhood based “safe space”, held a press conference in front of empty storefront on 1083 Broadway in the Bushwick.
They gathered to condemn what they say was “police brutality” by the NYPD last weekend, during which altercations and arrests occured with the participants during a eviction process done by the landlord.
Organizers claimed they won the “space” from the police. A local Community Board Member Robert Camacho interrupted the event by condemening the actions of the organizers, however stopped short of full condemenation by supporting some of its goals.
