July 3, 2021 Bronx, NY A rally and march honoring the life of Victorio Hilario Guzman, an Indigenous delivery worker from Mexico killed during a hit a run on w 180 Grand Concourse in the Bronx last year on September 23, 2020. Family, friends, and strangers began their march for justice in the death of Guzman from the Bronx Supreme Court and ended with a vigil where he was struck.
Elias Hilario-Guzman, brother of Victorio addressed the group in Spanish and said “My brother was working delivering food when he was run over, and we “the ones working on the streets daily” are at risk. We don’t know which one’s turn will be when tomorrow comes.”
The group could be heard chanting in Spanish as they marched “El pueblo unido jamás será vencido” which means “The people united shall never be defeated”
A march that started at the Bronx Supreme Court concluded with a vigil at the site Victorio Hilario Guzman was struck. We spoke with Francely Flores who said the community came together to honor Victorios life and to ask that the city name name the street after Guzman.
