George Floyd Statue Vandalized Days After Brooklyn Debut

Statue of George Floyd in Brooklyn has been vandalized. It was unveiled only 5 days ago, on Juneteenth.

The face of the statue was painted black, with graffiti in white lettering that reads “Patriot Front. US”

NYPD Hate Crime Force is investigating this incident.

NYPD has released security footage. The photos show the unidentified males walking in the vicinity of the Flatbush Ave / Brooklyn College subway station. The first video clip shows the unidentified males walking in the vicinity of Glenwood Road and Flatbush Avenue shortly before the incident. The second video clip shows the unidentified males walking in the vicinity of Glenwood Road and Flatbush Avenue shortly after the incident.

George Floyd Statue in New Jersey was also Vandalized overnight. Description appears the same, state’s face was painted black and there were white words painted on the its torso that referred to the Patriot Front.

The paint was removed by the city’s public works department and an investigation was launched.

New York Governor Cuomo posted a statement that he will direct the New York State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist in the investigation of the defacing of the George Floyd monument in Brooklyn.
