June 15 2021 – MANHATTAN, New York:
Hundreds gathered at Battery Park to watch the fireworks over the Statue of Liberty to celebrate New York’s reopening. The governor announced this morning that he would lift most COVID restrictions effective immediately.
The crowd cheered and danced and sang as the lengthy firework display crashed over New York Harbor.
Several people danced to New York, New York, saying afterwards that they’d lost loved ones to COVID, but they’re happy that it’s finally over.
This display was coordinated with several other displays across the state after New York vaccinated 70% of its population.
