Lyft Driver Killed by Alleged DWI Driver in Queens Crash

June 13 2021 – QUEENS, New York:
A Lyft driver was killed in an early morning crash in Fresh Pond, Queens, according to police.
According to the NYPD, when officers arrived to the scene they observed an unconscious 47-year-old man inside a 2016 Toyota Rav4 with bodily trauma.

EMS responded and transported him to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, say officials.

The NYPD collision investigation squad determined that the Lyft driver was driving on Fresh Pond Road through the intersection of Eliot Avenue when his vehicle was struck by a 2014 Ford Explorer, according to cops.

The driver of that vehicle was a 22-year-old man who was taken into custody and removed to Elmhurst Hospital for evaluation, with charges pending. The police are still investigating.
