Crowd Gathers for Puerto Rican Day Parade Down Fifth Avenue, Mayor Speaks

June 13 2021 – MANHATTAN, New York:
Mayor de Blasio and Commissioner Shea were present at the kickoff of the annual Puerto Rican day parade in Harlem.


People danced in colorful clothes, chanted and sang, waved flags and played music.
Because of the COVID19 pandemic, the annual parade was kept smaller this year.
The mayor said, “when we celebrate this time, it’s a small intimate celebration, but next time it’s going to be a big joyous celebration…”
