This story is developing. Multiple websites including CNN, New York Times, Guardian, Gov.uk, Reddit, Twitch, Vimeo and others are down.
The websites now, at 6:29am(EST) , state “Connection Failure”.
When checking earlier, at 6:15am(EST) , they stated “Error 503 Service Unavailable”

This major internet outage appears to have started with Fastly outage.
Websites that are down, have been traced to a failure in a content delivery network (CDN) run by Fastly.
Many websites appear partially down, some are down entirely, this also broke specific sections of other services, such as the servers for Twitter that host the emoji.
It appears that some of the websites such as Amazon, BBC have restored services by switching their systems away from Fastly’s network.
