Police Arrest Alleged Drunk Driver Who Killed a Man in Manhattan

May 11 2021 – MANHATTAN, New York: Police arrested a driver who fled after he struck and killed a man walking on Water Street in Kips Bay, Manhattan earlier in the night.
Shortly after 10pm, police were informed that a man was struck by a vehicle near Waterside Plaza, the victim was found laying in the roadway and unconscious with injuries to his head.

He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
At around 10:45pm, police responded to a call of a vehicle collision on the FDR near 53rd street. Police say this was the same vehicle that hit the man earlier near Waterside Plaza, he was injured in the collision but was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.
The drivers nae is Jonathan Sutherland, 23 years old and being charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, refusal of breathalizer test, assault, criminally negligent homicide and leaving accident scene.
