Funeral for NYPD Officer Anastasios Tsakos, killed in the line of duty

May 4 2021, GREENLAWN, Suffolk County – A funeral was being held for NYPD Officer Anastasios Tsakos, who was struck and killed by a drunk driver in Queens in the line of duty last week.

The service was held at Saint Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church.

Police officers and the community gathered to mourn the loss and show support for Tsakos and his wife Irene and their two small children.


32 years old female who police say ran over the veteran highway patrolman last week on the Long Island Expressway in Queens is facing 13 criminal charges.

Mayor De Blasio was also attending the service, he put out a statement saying: “Officer Anastasios Tsakos loved our city and served it nobly. He was a hero whose life was tragically cut short. He was New York’s Finest. Today, our thoughts are with his wife Irene and his two beautiful children. They will grow up knowing their father was a true hero. “
