7-Year-Old Boy Dies in New Jersey House Fire

April 8 2021, Newark, NJ – A 7-year-old boy has died in a townhouse fire, after flames engulfed his New Jersey home.

Fire was reported at 65 Astor Street in Newark around 5 a.m.

There were reports that a child was trapped on the third floor of the home, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the boy has died. His identity hasn’t been released.

NBC New York reports that the boy’s father escaped the burning home through the front door, when he tried to reenter through the roof next door, he was rescued by firefighters.
