February 18, 2021 Bronx, New York – at around 9:44am police and firefighters responded to a 911 call.
The 25-year-old mechanic was working on the lift in an apartment building, when the elevator fell down, killing him.
FDNY performed an elevator rescue inside of 133 E. Clarke Place, pulling the victim from under the elevator and transporting him to a local hospital, but he could not be saved.

Our preliminary investigation indicates that elevator mechanics were performing permitted modernization work on the elevator, which was out of service at the time of the incident, when it fell.
The Medical Examiner will determine the manner and cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
