December 29 2020 – MANHATTAN, New York: Colorful squares and circles swirled through the air and dazzled the crowd in Times Square during the official confetti test by Times Square Alliance and Planet Fitness, ahead of the NYE celebration in Times Square. Some tourists from Florida were thrilled to have seen the spectacle, “I’m shocked!” Said Ava Grimsley.
Some danced and some tried catching the bits of paper as it filled the sky and settled on the streets. “We’re looking for new ways to carry on old traditions,” said Tom Harris, the senior vice president of the Times Square Alliance. The “dispersal engineers” stood upon the marquis of the Hard Rock Cafe, along with inflatable flailing tube men, and counted down several times before releasing the rainbow of confetti into the wind.
