Woman Charged after Plowing through Protesters with a Car in Manhattan

December 11 2020 – MANHATTAN, New York:
A car plowed through at least 5 protesters during a march against an ICE detention center. The march was in solidarity with ICE detainees on a hunger strike at an ICE facility in Bergen County, New Jersey.
After the car drove through the group, at least two people flew up in the air, police reportedly pushed the protesters away from the victims they were trying to help, arresting one in the process.

Eventually the occupants of the Black BMW that struck the protesters were walked away in handcuffs. According to one photographer, a driver and a female passengers.

There are two angles of the incident available. Videos of the incident suggests that at least one person was knocking on the BMW windows, and another person’s hand was on or near the back door handle, moments later the car drives straight through the intersection and up the block, accelerating speed.

As of December 11 2020, 52-year-old Kathleen Casillo, of Queens, has been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment after plowing through a group of protesters.

Protesters stayed outside the hospital where the victims are being treated. Everyone is expected to survive.
