Elderly woman and daughter killed in Manhattan Fire

November 22 2020 Manhattan, New York – Heavy fire erupted in an apartment building. The fire was reported just after midnight Sunday on the 24th floor of a 33-story building on Audubon Avenue.

Warnette James, 73, and Malaika James, 37, were killed by the fire that started in the kitchen of their apartment on Audubon Avenue and West 178th Street in Washington Heights, New York.

FDNY Fire Marshalls have determined that the cause of the fire was accidental, electrical. Smoke alarm was present but not operational.
