Bicyclist Struck and Killed by a Hit and Run Driver in Manhattan


On Sunday (November 1st) afternoon, the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV struck and killed 42-year-old delivery bicyclist Ernesto Guzman on Second Avenue and East 97th Street in Manhattan. Driver left the scene and abandoned the vehicle a few blocks away.

The preliminary investigation determined that the 42-year-old male e-bike operator was traveling southbound on 2nd Avenue, when a an unidentified individual operating a black Chevy Tahoe, traveling westbound on 97th Street, struck the male bicyclist at the location. The Chevy Tahoe fled the scene and was later recovered, unoccupied, in the vicinity of 96th Street and 3rd Avenue. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway Division’s Collision Investigation Squad.
