Male struck and killed while attempting to cross Long Island Expressway

On Sunday, October 18, 2020 at approximately 0308 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a male struck by a vehicle on the eastbound Long Island Expressway near Exit 29, within the confines of the 111 Precinct. Upon arrival, police observed a 47-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive laying on the roadway. EMS also responded and transported the male to North Shore University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation determined that the male was struck by a vehicle while he attempted to cross the Long Island Expressway. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
