Man Arrested after Climbing New York Times Building

Unidentified man arrested after scaling the New York Times building.

October 15, 2020 at around 5:20pm a man was reported climbing the New York Times building. Bystanders said he climbed the diagonal, external support beams of the building until he got around to the 5th floor.

He stayed on the fifth floor beams, presumed stuck by many. One onlooker shouted at the man, “It’s not worth it. I love you, there are people that love you —Stay still!”

The NYPD alerted workers inside the building that someone was outside with the use of a loudspeaker around 5:30, according to a Times worker.

The NYPD ESU team removed window by breaking glass to rescue the man and he was placed under arrest. The crowd dispersed soon after.
