Following two nights of Unrest in Borough Park, Protests are now Banned in red zones in Brooklyn and Queens.

On October 7th, for the second night in the row, hundreds of Orthodox Jews, hasids and other Borough Park residents gathered and protested coronavirus restrictions along 13th Avenue in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

At one point the crowd surrounded and chased away journalist Jacob Kornbluh. In addition, multiple journalists and reporters were chased away, including an ABC news crew who had to be escorted by police.
After a couple of hours, a line of dozens of NYPD vehicles arrived and were stopped by the crowd at the intersection of 47th Street and 13th Avenue.
Some police vehicles were able to get through and officers in riot gear arrived, those officers also eventually were walked away from the crowd.

On Thursday, new rules go into effect in COVID-19 hot zones, like Borough Park, prohibiting mass gatherings. Only 10 people will be allowed at religious services.

The governor said it had to happen because the laws were not enforced.
