Fatal Hit and Run in Queens Long Island Expressway

Early Monday morning (September 28) police were called to a motor vehicle collision investigation involving a pedestrian struck on the Long Island Expressway near exit 19 in Queens, New York.



Adult male was unconscious and unresponsive, with severe body trauma lying on the roadway. Victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the unidentified male pedestrian was within the westbound travel lanes of the Long Island Expressway in the vicinity of Exit 19, when he was struck by an unknown vehicle which fled the location upon impact. Victim came to a rest and was discovered within the right travel lane. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
