Tens of Thousands of people gathered this Friday (August 28), lining the pool at the Lincoln Memorial to call for changes to the criminal justice system and to demand racial equality while honoring the 57th anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream”, which was addressed from the same location in 1963.

“Enough is enough” the Rev Al Sharpton bellowed into the microphone. “We will vote for a nation that will stop the George Floyds, that will stop the Breonna Taylors.” The National Action Network and other organizers said they wanted to highlight the civil rights issues of today, bring well-known speakers and families of victims of police brutality to address the crowd while also setting strict safety protocols to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
