MANHATTAN – An argument erupted on an Upper West Side sidewalk during a demonstration to show support for homeless New Yorkers being housed at Belleclaire Hotel under a controversial city program.
Some say the area near W. 78th st. & Broadway isn’t safe anymore because of homeless men urinating, panhandling and using drugs on the streets.
However, a group of about four dozen Upper West Siders welcomed their new neighbors with inspirational messages written in chalk on the sidewalk.
During the argument one child called the woman a ‘Karen.’
