Muslims gather for prayer before Black Lives Matter rally in New York City

June 12 2020 – BROOKLYN, New York: About 100 people, mostly Muslim, showed up at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn today to protest violence against black women and specifically black Muslim women. They prayed on the Plaza outside of the Center, and spoke out about the lack of recognition that black Muslim women have gotten throughout the latest Black Lives Matter protests. The event was called Jummuah, kutubah, prayer, and protest, presented by black Muslim women and Muslim allies.
