Unexpected Friendships Formed by Pandemic in New York City

May 15 2020 – MANHATTAN, New York: The pandemic had people stuck inside their homes for weeks except for a few minutes each night to cheer for healthcare workers. Now that the weather has warmed up, people are taking to the sidewalks to enrich their new friendships, “we met from the clapping.” With drinks in hand, new friends lined 2nd Avenue and relished in something that has been missing for so long, “it’s a closeness.” People also came together to listen and dance to New York, New York blasted from an apartment into the streets, they clapped and cheered on this hot day in mid May.
