Bodies Stacked up in Mobile Morgue, Thank You Messages Spread Around the Hospital

April 25 2020, 2:00pm – ASTORIA, Queens, NY: Despite hospitalizations and deaths no longer being at the peak of the Coronavirus pandemic, Mt. Sinai Queens hospital now has two additional refrigerated trailers parked outside, being used as temporary morgues on a day when New York’s death toll from COVID-19 was 437, fifteen more than the previous day. As our journalist walked by the back entrance of the hospital, the refrigerated trailer was open with bodies visible inside. They appeared to be neatly stacked on shelves, differently than the way we had seen them previously, laid out on the floor.

Just outside the hospital there are signs thanking the healthcare workers, attached to fences, light poles, and in apartment windows.
