Fatal Motorcycle Crash

On Sunday, April 5, 2020, at approximately 2009 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on the Henry Hudson Parkway, in the vicinity of 139 Street, within the confines of the 30 Precinct. Upon arrival, responding officers encountered an unconscious and unresponsive 36-year-old male. EMS subsequently pronounced the male deceased at the scene. The preliminary investigation determined that the 36-year-old male operator of a 2020 black BMW motorcycle was traveling southbound on the Henry Hudson Parkway with a 47-year-old female passenger, when he was involved in a minor collision with a blue 2018 Toyota Siena minivan, causing both the operator and passenger of the motorcycle to fall to the ground. The minivan was operated by a 30-year-old-male and contained eight additional passengers, all of whom refused medical attention at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle was subsequently struck by an oncoming black 2018 Toyota Highlander, operated by a 42-year-old male. The 42-year-old male was removed to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital by EMS, in stable condition. The 47-year-old female passenger of the motorcycle was also removed to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital with minor injuries, in stable condition. All of the vehicles remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad. The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
