Nurses Speak Out About Hospitals in New York

April 2, 2020 – MANHATTAN, New York City: Outside of Mt. Sinai West Hospital on 58th Street in Midtown Manhattan, two nurses spoke out against the conditions they’re dealing with and the incompetency of leadership in the healthcare system at their hospitals. Diana Torres, RN at Mt. Sinai said they are walking into a war zone, they don’t know what they’re walking into. The work understanding that they’re continually getting exposed to the virus. She’s emotionally exhausted. Job is physically and emotionally draining. “This is not okay, this is murder.” “Something’s gotta give, and it looks like it’s us, and it can’t be.” Katherine Fernandez, another nurse, says, they come in everyday and they’re not getting support from their managers, the CDC is saying things that doesn’t make sense.
