Councilman Joe Borelli said: ‘They banned me from marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade for wearing a small rainbow flag pin, this after Miss Staten Island, Madison L’Insalata, came out as bisexual. The parade organizer, Larry Cummings, banned her and said her fellow beauty queens couldn’t march after they decided to boycott the event.
Borelli was wearing a rainbow flag pin on his lapel, and was told by one of the parade marshals that because of this, he could not participate in the event.
This is the 56th annual parade, it began at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Hart Boulevard on Sunday at 12:30pm.
